Bruce Williams has 10 years of social work/administrative experience in an acute hospital setting and served for 25 years as the executive director of a large (500 residents) continuum care retirement community.
As a comparatively young man I had the unique opportunity to comfortably observe the interaction of some 5,000 seniors, their friends and families during the final days, weeks, months and yes, years of their lives. Many issues were common to all but many issues were nearly as unique as the number of seniors. The solutions were good, bad and very ugly. All of which have led me to believe that the last third of our life can be greatly enhanced through efforts of engagement, enlightenment and a candid, pro-active approach. Few of the issues can be eliminated but most can be made a bit more palatable with a greater degree of understanding and preparation.
