Mala Nagarajanco-founded Trikone-Northwest, an organization serving South Asian Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) community based in the Pacific Northwest area of the United States, and she serves as a co-coordinator for the Queer South Asian National Network (QSANN), a national, U.S.-based organization. She and her wife, Vega Subramaniam, were the first South Asian plaintiff couple involved in a U.S.-based statewide marriage equality lawsuit. She also produced and curates Timeline of South Asian and diasporic LGBT history wikipedia page. She is passionate around issues impacting people with disabilities, LGBTQ communities, and people of color communities. She is a caretaker for her aging mother, who is deaf and has limited mobility. In her spare time, she writes and consults with nonprofits as part of Vega Mala Consulting, providing guidance on HR management, team development and cultural competency, and strategic planning and assessments.
