New York State Social Work CEUs

Supporting Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Older Adults (1 hour)

This training is designed for any staff that interact with older adults and is our most general introduction to LGBT aging.

Training objectives:

  1. Explain the terms lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender
  2. Understand why LGBT older adults may hide their identity
  3. Incorporate LGBT concerns into person-directed care
  4. Connect to local and national resources

SAGE (Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders) SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0157. This training carries one hour of NYSED credit for Social Workers.

National Association of Social Work CEUs

Creating Inclusive Communities for LGBT Older Adults (1 hour)

This training is designed for staff working in a skilled nursing facility or other residential care setting.

Training objectives:

  1. Explain the terms lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender
  2. Learn about the unique needs of LGBT older adults
  3. Get an overview of the various rights and protections extended to LGBT residents
  4. Review other best practices for creating communities welcoming to LGBT older adults, their loved ones, and caregivers.

SAGE (Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders) is approved by the National Association of Social Workers (Provider #886674354) to provide CEU training to social workers. Not all states accept NASW CEU credits. For more information please visit the NASW website.

California Residential Care for the Elderly (RCFE) Administrator

SAGE is approved to provide CEUs to Residential Care for the Elderly (RCFE) Administrators. The SAGECare training content is under review by the California Department of Health and Human Services. One approved, this training will satisfy the LGBT Cultural Competency requirement for RCFE Administrators required by California Assembly Bill 663.
