Ruth Szilagyi is currently retired. During her working life she held a variety of positions – crisis worker, volunteer coordinator and assistant director at a rape crisis center, case manager for clients under fiduciary protection, senior center manager, community college instructor and supervisor in a large corporation. She identifies as a cisgender female and lesbian. Ruth is a volunteer on SAGE Metro Portland’s Housing Committee and Elder Panel. She and her wife have been together since 1978. They were legally married on their 37th anniversary in 2015. They lived in Phoenix and San Francisco before retiring to Portland, Oregon in 2006, where they now enjoy attending local concerts, finding new restaurants (especially the ones with two-for-one coupons!) and embracing the Portland vibe.
